Video generation is the process of producing moving footage from a text prompt, script or storyboard: a generative model creates frames that stay consistent with each other, adds motion between them, and the audio is synthesised separately.
No jargon, no math
A generated video is a stack of generated frames that must agree with each other. You give the model a prompt, a script or a storyboard, plus optional reference images of the product or the speaker. The model drafts key frames per shot, then fills the motion between them, tens of frames per second of footage. The hard part is temporal consistency: the same subject must look the same in frame 1 and frame 300, so the model carries a compressed memory of previous frames into each new one. Audio is a separate track: a speech model voices the script and a music model scores it, then everything is muxed. Where it breaks: physics drifts (objects melt or teleport), hands and lip sync are still shaky, and coherence decays after a few seconds, which is why tools ship short clips you stitch rather than one long take. Think drafts and b-roll, not finished cinema.
Script and assets. You supply a prompt, a storyboard and reference images.
Key frames. The model drafts the anchor frames of each shot.
In-betweens. Motion frames are generated between the anchors, tens per second.
Consistency. A memory of past frames keeps the subject stable shot after shot.
Render. Shots are stitched and scored; speech and music are added last.
Image generation is the process of creating new pictures from a text description or another image: a generative model, usually a diffusion model, turns a prompt into pixels step by step rather than copying existing photos.
ReadA diffusion model is a generative model trained to reverse a gradual noising process: it learns to remove noise step by step, so at generation time it can start from pure static and refine it into an image, sound or other output that matches your prompt.
ReadA multimodal model is one AI model that handles more than one kind of input and output, text, images, audio, video, reasoning across them in a shared internal representation instead of requiring a separate tool per format.
