A real-time occupancy system let Orange Luxembourg executives share their dedicated parking spaces whenever they were empty — with a rewards scheme tied to EV, bike, and scooter sharing that seeded a wider corporate micro-mobility programme.

Orange Communications Luxembourg is a full-service telecoms provider, serving businesses and homes across the country since 2004. At its headquarters, senior executives held dedicated parking spaces, a visible privilege.
Those spaces often sat empty during business travel, transfers, and holidays. Orange saw the waste and asked us to measure occupancy accurately and let executives share the spaces when they weren't using them, encouraging a culture of resource sharing and sustainability.
We built a real-time occupancy system with a sharing layer on top, and designed it to grow into something larger than parking.
The cameras report whether a space is occupied, and when an executive is away their space opens up for sharing through the app. Sharing earns rewards tied to other mobility options, so an unused parking spot turns into a bike, scooter, or EV for someone else, rather than sitting idle.
The project laid the foundations for a broader sustainable micro-mobility plan inside Orange. Rankings created positive competition among employees, and the design left room for services like electric charging stations, so parking became the first step in a wider shared-mobility ecosystem.
